Jen Lesea Designs Opens Studio for Jewelry Making Workshops and Community Open Studio in the NoBo Arts District!
Jen Lesea-Ames, a Boulder-based indie jewelry designer and owner of Jen Lesea Designs, recently expanded her professional jewelry studio to help keep jewelry artists working by offering community open studio and metalsmithing workshops in a small-group setting. In these times, career and recreational jewelry artists may not have the resources to buy expensive metalsmithing equipment to keep creating and selling their creations. With this in mind, Jen saw an opportunity to provide jeweler's benches and metalsmithing equipment for rental on a half-day or full-day basis.
"There are a lot of steps in metalsmithing that can be done at home with minimal equipment, but there is a point where specialty equipment may be needed such as a 20-ton hydraulic press or rolling mill," Jen explains. "That is where my studio, Silver Peak Studio, comes in to fill that gap. Jewelers who are properly trained, can come to our studio for a full day or half-day, and finish their pieces with the equipment that we have."
Additionally, small group jewelry metalsmithing workshops, jewelry design classes, and jewelry business classes will be hosted at Silver Peak Studio. "If I can help fellow jewelry artists continue to expand their skills in metalsmithing and in business, then they avoid the mistakes I have made in my jewelry career," Jen said about the inspiration about hosting classes in a small-group setting, which aloows for a unique learning experience. The class schedule is set through the end of September and is taught by a team of four experienced metalsmithing jewelry instructors.
Because the health of everyone is the top priority at Silver Peak Studio, classes and community open studio is limited to 3 people at a time, which allows for proper social distancing. Additionally a safety protocol is in place where temperature checks will be taken at the door, hand sanitizer used upon entering, and masks are required to be worn at all times. All equipment and surfaces will be sterilized before and after each class and community open studio.
An open house is scheduled for June 27 from 12:00-3:00, click here to learn more about the event. To learn more about Jen's studio and offerings, please visit Silver Peak Studio's website.
